J. J. Williams

John James " JJ " Williams ( born April 1, 1948 in Nantyffyllon, Vale of Glamorgan ) is a former Welsh rugby union player who has been employed on the position of the outer three- quarter. He was active for the Welsh national team and the British and Irish Lions.

Williams took in 1970 at the Commonwealth Games in part in the sprint. He decided to point out, however, to be active as a rugby player. He first played for Bridgend RFC, then moved to Llanelli. In 1973 he came to his international debut against France. A year later he was the first part of the Lions, as the tour brought the choice to South Africa. Ahead of the Test series against the Springboks he put six attempts against the Southern Districts and found so that the record for scoring attempts in a match. In the three tests, he was also one of the most successful players with four defined experiments. The Lions won three of four games, South Africa was able to achieve a draw.

Williams dominated in the 1970s with the Welsh national rugby the world. 1975, 1976, 1978 and 1979 won the Five Nations Wales, including two grand slams. In 1977, he was reinstated for the Lions and played in three friendlies. He was injured in the third test and could not participate in the final game. In 1979, he finished his career. He has since worked as a commentator and expert.
