J/80

The J/80 is an organization recognized by the International Sailing Federation device class. In Germany it is considered as an international class ( keelboat ). The boats over 1400 sold worldwide mainly sailed in North America, Europe and Asia actively in ranking regattas of the National Associations. Annually in World Championship under the umbrella of international J/80-Klassenvereinigung. In the years in which the World Cup is not played in Europe, a European Championship will take place.

The J/80 was designed in 1992 by Rod Johnstone and his company J / Boats. Target was a sport boat that was both easy and safe to sail and the sliding speeds should allow up to 20 knots. Another design constraint was, inter alia, the allowable on the road width of 2.50 m.
