Jaap Boersma

Jacob ( Jaap ) Boersma ( born December 2, 1929 in Leeuwarden, † 6 March 2012) was a Dutch politician and minister.

He grew up in Friesland and studied from 1947 to 1953 the economy only in Rotterdam and then in Amsterdam. In 1964 he moved as a member of the Anti - Revolutionary Party ( ARP ) in the Second Chamber of the States General. From 1971 to 1973 he was Minister for Social Affairs in the cabinet of Barend Biesheuvel; at times he headed the Department of Agriculture. In 1978, he joined the Christian party Democratisch Appèl (CDA ) and left this on October 11th, 1980 again. From 1989 to January 1996 he was a member of Partij van de Arbeid.

On 6 March 2012 Boersma died at the age of 82 years.
