Jacco Eltingh

Jacco Eltingh ( born August 29, 1970 in Heerde ) is a former Dutch tennis player.

Life

Elting was a professional tennis player in 1988 and had the following year at the Challenger tournament in Lagos his first major success when he reached the final with his partner Paul Haarhuis. In addition, he stood in the quarter-finals of the individual competition. In 1992, he won his first singles title on the ATP World Tour with a final against MaliVai Washington in Manchester. The following year he won his second individual title in Atlanta, as well as six doubles titles together with Paul Harrhuis. 1994 both stood in twelve finals, of which they were able to win eight. In total he won during his career 44 doubles titles, most of them with Paul Haarhuis. He also won four individual titles. Its highest listing in the tennis world ranking he reached in 1995 with position 19 in the singles and with position one in doubles.

His best individual results at a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the quarterfinals at the Australian Open and at Wimbledon. Elting was able to win all four Grand Slam tournaments during his career, the Australian Open and the French Open even twice each. Except for the Australian Open in 1998, which he won at the side of Jonas Bjorkman, his partner was in all Grand Slam titles Paul Haarhuis.

Eltingh played between 1992 and 1998 six singles and ten doubles matches for the Dutch Davis Cup team. While its individual balance was negative at 2-4, he won eight of ten matches in doubles.

In the Summer Olympics 1996, he stepped to the side of Paul Haarhuis in a double for the Netherlands. In the semifinals they lost Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde of Australia, the match for the bronze medal after they lost against Marc -Kevin Goellner and David Prinosil from Germany.
