Jachen

The Jachen is a river in Bavaria. It forms a tributary of the Isar River.

The Jachen is the natural outflow of the Walchensee at Niedernach, which is however locked there since 1924 in favor of Walchenseekraftwerk work by a weir.

Until the 1950s, was used for drift of the beaten around Walchensee and in the Jachenau wood from time immemorial the Jachen. After the barrier at Niedernach the Bavarian State to provide annually between the spring and August 15 for 60 consecutive days for grant of water drift wood quantities available committed. This right Jachenau has made in recent decades no use, because now all the wood is transported by truck from the valley.

The river is fed by numerous streams from the heights on both sides of Jachentales flows in a center designated by the EU Habitats Directive area of the village of Jachenau past and ends at the level of stain and Langeneck Lenggries in the Isar.
