Jacinto Convit

Jacinto Convit ( born September 11, 1913 in La Pastora, Caracas ) is a Venezuelan scientists.

He developed the first vaccine against leprosy and leishmaniasis, for which he was nominated for the Nobel Prize in 1988. On April 10, 1987, he was awarded the Prince of Asturias Prize for Scientific and Technical Research. He also received the Damien - Dutton Award, the National Prize for Medicine in Venezuela, the price of Science and Technology of Mexico and the Pan-American prices Soopr and Horowitz.

He was for a long time for the WHO and has worked as Head of the Institute of Biomedicine in Venezuela.
