Jack Douglas (record producer)

Jack Douglas ( * in New York City ) is an American music producer and sound engineer.

Life

Douglas initially joined as a musician in appearance. In 1965, he traveled with a friend to Liverpool, where they but lack of a visa which was denied entry and the Liverpool newspapers reported only on "Two crazy Yanks ".

After his return to the United States he took in 1969 with the band Privilege a homonymous -titled album. He then worked in New York's Record Plant recording studio, where he worked his way as a sound engineer from the janitor. He later became involved in recordings for, among others, Miles Davis, The James Gang, Alice Cooper, Cheap Trick, Montrose, Rough Cutt and Artful Dodger.

In 1971 he met John Lennon during the recording of his album Imagine know, when he came to him about his journey from Liverpool from this week. 1980 Douglas produced Lennon's last album Double Fantasy, which was honored at the 1982 Grammy Awards for Best Album. After Lennon's death, the planned follow-up album Milk and Honey was released in 1984 and Jack Douglas not mentioned as a co-producer, although he was involved in the production of several titles. A dispute with Yoko Ono over unpaid royalties ended later in court.

In the 1970s, Douglas produced several albums for the band Aerosmith, including Get Your Wings (1974 ) Toys in the Attic ( 1975) Rocks (1976 ) and Draw the Line ( 1977). After a short pause Douglas produced in 1982 for the album Aerosmith Rock in a Hard Place. The following records have been implemented by other producers, but by 2004, Douglas produced the Aerosmith album Honkin 'on Bobo. Also the 2012 entstandenene 15th album by the band, Music from Another Dimension! , Was produced by Douglas.

Douglas taught at Ex'pression College for Digital Arts in Emeryville, California, as Guest Lecturer.
