Jacob Moritz Blumberg

Jacob Moritz Blumberg (* June 27, 1873 in Poznan, † 1955) was a German - Jewish surgeon and gynecologist.

Blumberg studied at the University of Breslau, 1896, he received his doctorate. This was followed by research and training in various fields in Wroclaw, as with Johann von Mikulicz (surgery ), Albert Neisser (Dermatology ) and Albert Fraenkel ( gynecology ). Blumberg later worked in Berlin as a surgeon and gynecologist, in the First World War he served in the German army. With the advent of Nazism, he left Germany and emigrated to England.

Blumberg examined method of surgical hand disinfection, still he developed a type of surgical gloves. According to him the Blumberg sign is named, which he described in 1907.
