Jacob Mulenga

Jacob Mulenga (born 12 February 1984 in Kitwe, Zambia ) is a Zambian football player. The striker plays since July 2009, in the Dutch Eredivisie for FC Utrecht and is also active in the Zambian national team.

Club career

Mulenga began at the Zambian third division Afrisport, where he helped in the 2003 season with 32 league goals for promotion to the second highest league. In December 2003, he graduated with his compatriot Collins Mbesuma a trial at Rennes, both could be doing but do not recommend. Also in the second division, he was able to confirm its good performance and met the first three games four times. In the summer of 2004, he completed a three-week trial with Billy Mwanza at SC Bastia. There, too, both players could not recommend for a contract, Mulenga but got the French second division club LB Châteauroux a four -year deal, becoming the second Zambians by Andrew Tembo 1994 at Olympique Marseille in a French professional league.

On his league debut on 24 August 2004 Mulenga scored both goals for Châteauroux in a 2-0 win over Niort. In the following years he was repeatedly thrown back by injuries and was in his first season in France only 15 appearances. In the following two seasons, he was able to increase the number of its operations significantly (2005/ 06: 25, 2006 /07: 38) without, however, increase the number of hits significantly. National team career

Jacob Mulenga debuted after his strong performance in the second division in Zambia in May 2004 compared to Sudan. In qualifying for the 2006 World Cup Mulenga scored against eventual World Cup qualifiers Togo goal of the day in Aufktaktspiel the group stage. With the third place in the final table is qualified not for the World Cup, but before the Republic of Congo and Mali for the African Cup of Nations 2006. Due to an injury he missed the final round, but was two years later at the African Cup of Nations 2008 squad Zambia and scored in the opening game against Sudan the Hits 2-0 (final score 3-0).
