Jacopo Piccolomini-Ammannati

Jacopo Ammannati, since its recording, about 1455, in which the future Pope Pius II Jacopo Ammannati Piccolomini family, also known as Giacomo Ammannati Piccolomini (* March 8, 1422 near Lucca, † September 10, 1479 in San Lorenzo near Bolsena ) was 1460-1479 Bishop of Pavia. 1461 he was appointed cardinal. He was educated literary and theological. Under Nicholas V. he went to Rome. In 1450 he became private secretary to Cardinal Domenico Capranica, and later with Calixtus III. ; Pius II appointed him bishop of Pavia in 1460 and on December 18, 1461 cardinal.

He was a friend of students and scholars; Jacopo da Volterra was his secretary. He enjoyed the friendship of the Cardinals Juan Carvajal, Bartolomeo Rover Ella and Basilius Bessarion.
