Jacquard loom

As Jacquard refers to the version developed by Joseph- Marie Jacquard loom.

Even in prehistoric times there were in many parts of the world simple looms. But only in 1785 the Englishman Edmund Cartwright invented the first mechanical loom. A significant improvement was finally on 19 April 1805, the weaving of the French silk weaver Joseph- Marie Jacquard ( 1752-1834 ). Are each controlled by a punched card per shot with him warp pulled up individually and as weaving large patterned fabric allows ( jacquard pattern ). Individual strands are attached to lifting cords ( armor ) mounted on special hooks ( PCBs ) depend. By the vertical movement of the sinkers individual warp yarns in the upper or lower part of the shed are guided at each machine revolution.

When the original Jacquard platinum movements were controlled by punched cards. This was one of the first known uses of the punch card technology in general, and the invention of digital media. Most newer devices operate with electromagnetic transmission of the given computer control impulses.

Modern jacquard looms operate at up to 24,000 boards. This means that the woven pattern can reach the size of a whole weaving machine.

In 2007, a jacquard should come on the market in which the strands are controlled without the complicated system of armor.

At Jacquardlegebarren a movable pin is attached between two guide needles, which is controlled by a screening program. With lowering of the corresponding pin hole needle is displaced to neighboring nobility, where a stitch of two threads forms and on the other hand creates an opening in the fabric.

Each knitting needle is directly controlled; thus different binding elements such as loops, handle and float can be combined in different colors in a row of stitches next to each other.

The pattern can be programmed on a computer and transferred directly to the machine.

Also hand-knitting machines can be equipped with a jacquard.
