Jacqueline Samuda

Jacqueline Samuda (* October 25, 19? Ottawa, Ontario ) is a Canadian actress and writer.

Life and work

Jacqueline Samuda grew up in Canada and the United States. At York University in Toronto, she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting. Her debut as a stage actress, she had at the Shaw Festival in Niagara -on-the -Lake. From Ontario Arts Council, she received a scholarship and went on to study in New York City. She lived here from 1987 to 1989 and from 1992 to 1998 in Los Angeles. Samuda in 1994 was awarded the Dramalogue Award as director for George F. Walker's Zastrozzi the Company of Angels Theatre in Los Angeles.

Her first television role she had in 1985 in the Canadian anthology film Shock Chamber. Her debut in an international film production, she celebrated in 1989 with a small supporting role in Jack Sholders Renegades with Lou Diamond Phillips and Kiefer Sutherland. So far, Jacqueline Samuda was primarily seen in supporting roles, the TV movie Wilder Days (2003) with Peter Falk and Tim Daly as well as their performances as NIRRTI in Stargate SG -1 and Stargate: Continuum count to its better known roles. For the Vancouver Film School Webchannel she produced the short films The Poet and Long Time No lakes (both 2003). On the feature film The Delicate Art of Parking ( 2006) she appeared as a story editor and has previously already written the script of a series of Stargate SG1. Samuda is furthermore active as Voice-over- speaker and was a finalist in the Voicey Award 2008. On March 8, 2008, she was presented at the Women in Film & TV Vancouver 's Spotlight Awards with the excellent Sharon Gibbon Lifetime Member Award and received for their planned stage adaptation BREAD a grant of $ 100,000.

Samuda taught as part of the Director's Chair Workshop at the Banff Centre of the University of Alberta, stops at the Vancouver Film School and at the University of British Columbia lectures in writing. It acts as President of the Canadian Pacific Cinémathèque, as an advisor to the organization Women in Film & TV Vancouver and as a juror at Canadian Film Festival.
