Jacques Schmidt

Jacques Schmidt ( born March 16, 1933, Briancon, Hautes -Alpes, † September 8, 1996 in Paris) was a French costume designer.

In August 1952 Schmidt was first involved in a theater production of the Persians in Freiburg. From 1960, he designed the costumes for several hundred theater productions. He worked regularly with Antoine Bourseiller, Patrice Chéreau and Roger Planchon. With Pierre Boulez as conductor, Chereau as a director and Richard Peduzzi as a stage designer he was responsible for the century ring (1976-1980), renewed the Bayreuth Festival.

1995 Jacques Schmidt designed the costumes for Le nozze di Figaro at the Salzburg Festival.
