Jaime Alguersuari

Jaime Víctor Alguersuari Escudero [ Xaime alɣerswaɾi ] (born 23 March 1990 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish racing driver. It was 2008 British Formula 3 champion. He made his debut in Formula 1 in 2009 and stood until 2011 when Scuderia Toro Rosso under contract.

Career

Beginnings in motorsport

Alguersuari began in 1998 with the karting in Spain and graduated from this to 2004. He drove in the Trophy Junior, Junior ICA and ICA Championships of Europe, Italy, Spain and Asia - Pazifien.

2005, the Spaniards began his career in Formula racing. He competed in the Italian Formula Renault 1.6 and was third in the overall standings. He also participated in two races of the Formula Renault 2.0 Euro Cups in part. 2006 Alguersuari won the championship of the winter series of Italian Formula Renault. The four races this formula won the Spaniards all. In the further course of the year was Alguersuari twelfth in Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and tenth in the Italian Formula Renault. 2007 remained Alguersuari in the two racing series and this time was fifth in the overall standings of the Euro Cup and won the runner-up title of the Italian Formula Renault behind his team -mate Mika Mäki.

2008 was the rise in the British Formula 3 championship Carlin Motorsport. There he secured himself as the youngest overall winner of all time just ahead of his team-mate Oliver Turvey the championship. In addition, Alguersuari played eight races of the Spanish Formula 3, of which he won three. 2009 started with Alguersuari Turvey for Carlin Motorsport in the World Series by Renault. With a win, he finished at the end of the season behind Turvey sixth place in the overall standings.

Formula 1

Scuderia Toro Rosso (2009-2011)

Alguersuaris main focus in 2009 was, however, at the Formula 1 after he was first one of the three test drivers of the Formula 1 team Red Bull Racing, he was in mid-July as a replacement for Sebastien Bourdais from Red Bull's sister team, Scuderia Toro Rosso, committed. With its launch at the Hungarian Grand Prix he became the youngest starter in a Formula 1 race. The Spaniard was at his first Grand Prix 19 years and 125 days old. At the end of the 2009 season, he finished 24th overall.

For the 2010 season Alguersuari remained at Toro Rosso. After he was able to keep the second race in Australia for a long time Michael Schumacher behind and was eventually become eleventh, he won a race later in the Malaysian Grand Prix in ninth place its first championship points. Later in the season, the Spaniard was able to score points in two other races. In the Drivers' Championship, he finished at the end of the season the 19th Place. Thus he was still indeed behind his teammate Sébastien Buemi, who was 16, but Alguersuari could keep up with him more often.

2011 Alguersuari went away again for Toro Rosso at the start. After six races without points were awarded at the Grand Prix of Canada, and Europe with two eighth places his first points. At the Italian Grand Prix, he scored with a seventh place had hitherto been his best finish in Formula 1, which he repeated at the Grand Prix of Korea. 2012 Alguersuari took over the role of test driver for tire manufacturer Pirelli.

Personal

Alguersuari is active in addition to his motorsport career as a DJ. His stage name is Squire. In September 2011, he released his first album called Organic Life.
