Jacob Edward Peavy (born 31 May 1981 in Mobile, Alabama) is an American baseball player in the Boston Red Sox. Here he plays on the position of the starting - pitcher.

Career

Peavy was drafted directly out of high school by the Padres and spent several years in the minor league teams of the Padres until he was appointed on 21 June 2002 in the Major League team from San Diego and there a day later his first Major League game played against the New York Yankees. The breakthrough achieved Peavy in the 2004 season when he was with an ERA ( Earned Run Average) from 2:27 Leader of the MLB.

In the 2005 season he was appointed team of the National League in the All Star and came up with San Diego in the postseason. Peavy broke while celebrating the championship title of the Western Division a rib and played in the first playoff game against the St. Louis Cardinals in great pain far below its potential.

In the 2005 season, Peavy had 216 strikeouts what the best value in the National League represented and was then far surpassed only by Johan Santana 238.

Peavy applies, despite his young age, as one of the best pitchers the Major Leagues. As his idol Peavy indicates the veteran and teammate Trevor Hoffman.

In April 2012, Peavy was appointed as the AL Pitcher of the Month. He pitched an ERA of 1.67 and managed 33 strikeouts in 5 inserts. On July 8, 2012 Peavy CJ Wilson replaced as a pitcher in the MLB All- Star Game in 2012. Peavy was honored along with Jeremy Hellickson of the Tampa Bay Rays with the Gold Glove Award as a pitcher for the American League. This was the first Gold Glove Award award in his career. On October 30, Peavy signed a new two-year contract with the White Sox over 29 million dollars. Thus, the White Sox secured his services until at least 2014. Since July 30 he is with the Boston Red Sox under contract. His debut for Boston he gave on 3 August 2013 against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
