Jamba (Cuando Cubango)

Jamba is a town in Angola, in the province of Cuando Cubango, in the extreme southeast, just north of the Namibian border, near the Caprivi Strip. In Umbundu, the local language, Jamba means elephant, the city name refers to the elephant wealth of the area. A city with the same name is located in the province of Huíla (see Jamba ( Huila ) ).

Add Jamba was from 1976 to 1992 the headquarters of UNITA. This was secured against access by the Angolan government troops through fuse systems (radar, anti-aircraft missile, minefields, camouflage ).
