James Bauer

James Bauer ( born March 1, 1884 in Hamburg, † 1940 in Argentina ) was a German stage actor and film director.

Life

Bauer came from a Hamburg merchant family. He received his theater training by Cord Mach husband and debuted as a stage actor in 1902 in Hagen. In 1905 he worked in Neisse first time as a theater director. In 1908 he was in Hamburg Head of the people Playhouse, later he was director of the Hamburg New Theatre. In 1912, he visited with his tour stage Napoleon and his wives Berlin.

In 1920 he began his career there as a film director. Until 1923 he worked there regularly with the actor and producer Hans Mierendorff together, after he staged for various clients. In 1928 he founded his own film company in Berlin Ines International Feature Film GmbH.

After the seizure of power by the Nazis in 1933, he emigrated to Spain where he staged the unsuccessful police Films Parody No me mates. After the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War in 1936, he emigrated to Argentina. There he could continue his career director until 1940. In 1938 he was expelled from the Reich Film Chamber because of " non-Aryan " descent.
