James Dale Strawbridge

James Dale Strawbridge ( born April 7, 1824 in Liberty, Montour County, Pennsylvania, † July 19, 1890 in Danville, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1873 and 1875 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

James Strawbridge attended the public schools of his home. In 1844, he graduated from Princeton College. After a subsequent study medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and his 1847 was admitted as a doctor, he began practicing in Danville in this profession. During the Civil War he served as a medic in different units in the army of the Union. End of 1864, he came for three months in captivity. After the war he continued his medical work. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Republican Party launched a political career.

In the congressional elections of 1872 Strawbridge in the 13th electoral district of Pennsylvania was in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Frank Charles Bunnell on March 4, 1873. Until March 3, 1875, he was able to complete a term in Congress. After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, he again worked as a doctor. He died on 19 July 1890 in Danville.
