James E. Newcom

James Edward Newcom ( born August 29, 1905 Indiana, † October 6, 1990 in San Diego, California ) was an American film editor at.

Life

James E. Newcom stood since 1933 as an editor at MGM signed where he was employed in films by directors such as Alfred Hitchcock, Victor Fleming, John Cromwell and William A. Wellman. Especially frequently he worked with the cutter Hal C. together core, with whom he 1940 Oscar in the category Best Editing for Flemings Southern epic Gone with the Wind ( Gone with the Wind ) won. Throughout his career, Newcom received three more nominations, so for Since You Went Away ( Since You Went Away, 1944), Duel in the ring ( Annie Get Your Gun, 1950) and Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970).

With his wife, Dorothy Robinson, whom he had married in 1927, he had a son, James Robinson Newcom, who was born 1937. James E. Newcom died in 1990 at the age of 85 years in San Diego.
