James Fearnley

James Fearnley ( born October 9, 1954 in Worsley, England ) is an English musician. He plays accordion in Irish- English folk - punk band The Pogues.

Musical Career

As a child Fearnley soprano was in a boys' choir until his voice changed at the age of 16. He took piano lessons, but was it any favors and therefore decided instead to learn guitar. He played with the singer Nick Wade and later with a band from Teddington, which "The Mixer" called themselves.

Fearnley was finally guitarist Shane MacGowan 's band The Nipple Erectors. The group consisted of Shane MacGowan (vocals), Shanne Bradley (bass) and Jon Moss (drums).

When the nips disbanded in late 1980, to Fearnley joined the soul band " The Giants ". Fearnley was finally asked by Jon Moss, whether he would be interested in permanently participate in the band Culture Club, after he played earlier on and off for them. Due to a misunderstanding is never Fearnley joined Culture Club, which became famous shortly thereafter.

Fearnley instead sold his guitar and spent a year trying to write a novel.

1982 were MacGowan and Jem Finer looking for an accordion player for their newly formed group Pogues. MacGowan knew Fearnley had taken piano lessons and assumed he could therefore also play the accordion. Finer appeared with an accordion in a laundry bag in Fearnleys apartment and persuaded them, try this. Fearnleys nickname was then due to his talent Maestro.

In 1989 he married actress Danielle of Zerneck and moved to Los Angeles, California has to offer. Fearnley left the Pogues in 1994 due to the ever increasingly crowded tour calendar in order to spend more time with his family. In 2001 he started as part of a Wiederveinigungskonzertes again the Pogues and plays with them until today.

He was a founding member of The Low And Sweet Orchestra, which released his debut album of ballads in the spaghetti western - style Goodbye To All That in 1996. This group consisted of former Thelonious Monster vocalist Mike Martt, and Circle Jerks, Zander Schloss (guitar), brothers Kieran and Dermot Mulroney (violin, cello, dobro ), Tom Barta (bass) and Will Hughes (drums).

Special Events

Fearnley played as a guest musician with Talking Heads ( Naked ), David Byrne, LILT and Melissa Etheridge ( Yes I Am ).

In 1995 he wrote the score for "God's Loneley Man".

On April 19, 2012 his memoir "Here Comes Everybody", in which he started the period from 1980 to 1991 by the founding of the Nipple Erectors to the sacking of Shane MacGowan as singer of the Pogues describes the publisher Faber & Faber published.
