James Finlay Weir Johnston
James Finlay Weir Johnston (* September 13, 1796 in Paisley, † September 18, 1855 in Durham ) was a Scottish chemist.
James Johnston, a pupil of Johann Jakob Berzelius, was in Durham, where he died in 1855 since 1833 professor. He wrote:
- Lectures on agricultural chemistry and geology (1842 );
- Contributions to scientific agriculture (1849 );
- Treatise on experimental agriculture (1849 );
- Notes on North America (1851, 2 vols );
- Chemistry of common life (1854 several times translated into German, last edit by Dornblüth, 2nd edition, Stuttgart 1887).
