James Gillray

James Gillray ( born August 13, 1757 Chelsea, † June 1, 1815 in London) was a British cartoonist.

He proved in his illustrations ( about 700, most were etchings ) as a dynamic and fierce critic of his time, as well as general human weaknesses. In addition to the social and political conditions of his home, he threw an equally critical look at the events in France, and in particular the French Revolution.
