James Gourlay

James Gourlay (born 1954 in Scotland) is a Scottish tuba player, conductor and professor.

James Gourlay is known internationally as a soloist and chamber music virtuoso. Among his first performances include, inter alia, " Harmonia " by Lachenman and the " Capricco for Solo Tuba " by Krzysztof Penderecki. He gave numerous compositions for tuba in order. These include works by Joseph Horovitz, Philip Sparke, Rodney Newton and Roger Steptoe. James Gourlay has long been a tuba player with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Zurich Opera House.

As a conductor, James Gourlay worked among others at BTM Brass Band Uri, Brass Band Berner Oberland and Williams Fairey Engineering band.
