James Green (bishop)

James Patrick Green (* May 30, 1950 in Philadelphia, United States) is a Roman Catholic Archbishop and Vatican Diplomat.

Life

James Patrick Green received on 14 June 1969 the archbishop of Philadelphia, Cardinal John Joseph Krol, the sacrament of Holy Orders and was incardinated in the clergy of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Pope John Paul II awarded him on May 4, 1988 honorary title Chaplain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ).

On August 17, 2006 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. Titular Archbishop of Altinum and appointed him as Apostolic Nuncio in South Africa and Namibia as well as apostolic delegate in Botswana. He received his episcopal consecration Cardinal Secretary of State Angelo Sodano on 6 September of the same year; Co-consecrators were the prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, Ivan Cardinal Dias, and the archbishop of Philadelphia, Cardinal Justin Francis Rigali. James Patrick Green was also appointed on 6 September 2006 Apostolic Nuncio to Lesotho and on 23 September 2006 as apostolic nuncio in Swaziland. On 15 October 2011, James Patrick Green Apostolic Nuncio in Peru.
