James Keith, Baron Keith of Avonholm

James Keith, Baron Keith of Avonholm, of St Bernard's in the City of Edinburgh PC KC ( * May 20, 1886, † June 29, 1964 ) was a British lawyer who most recently as Lord of Appeal in Ordinary, due to the Appellate Jurisdiction Act 1876 as a life peer and member of the House of Lords was.

Life

Keith, whose father Henry Shanks Keith was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire and served as Provost top municipal official from Hamilton later 1901-1908 and again in 1919, graduated after attending the prestigious Hamilton Academy to study law and received in 1911 his legal approval from the bar Association of Scotland ( Scots bar ). Recently Keith was appointed by Letters Patent of November 4, 1953 due to the Appellate Jurisdiction Act 1876 as a Life peer with the title Baron Keith of Avonholm, of St Bernard's in the City of Edinburgh to the member of the House of Lords to the nobility and worked until his death as Lord Justice (Lord of Appeal in Ordinary). In addition, he was appointed in 1953 to the Privy Councillor.

His son Henry Keith was also a lawyer and a judge at the Court of Session, and was last updated in 1977 as a life peer with the title Baron Keith of Kinkel, of Strathummel in the District of Perth and Kinross also Lord of Appeal in Ordinary.
