James Robertson (Jamaican politician)

James Robertson ( born June 9, 1966) is a Jamaican politician ( JLP ). He is Vice-Chairman ( Deputy Leader ) and was from September 2007 to April 2009 Minister without Portfolio, then until May 2011 Minister of Energy and Mines (Minister of Energy and Mining ) Jamaica.

Life

Robertson visited the Mona Preparatory, the Campion College and the Beadles College in England. He studied at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Professionally, he worked as Managing Director at Precision Enterprises. Robertson is married and father of two children.

Policy

Robertson was in 1989 as campaign manager in North East St. Catherine worked and again in 1993 in North Central Clarendon. He is Vice-Chairman of the JLP Area Council for the second

From 1998 to 2002 he was a senator. In the parliamentary elections in 2002, he was a candidate of the Jamaica Labour Party for the constituency of St. Thomas Western elected to the House of Representatives. Also in the next election on September 3, 2007 he won his constituency. The JLP reached in this election, the parliamentary majority and formed the new government. Robertson was appointed Minister without Portfolio and sworn in on 14 September 2007 as a minister. In the Cabinet reshuffle on 6 April 2009, Clive Mullings left office and Robertson took over as the new energy and mining minister whose order the responsibility for telecommunications scaled Ministry.

Robertson came under pressure after 2010 allegations against him were announced in November that he was involved in the attempted incitement to commit a murder committed not then. The allegations have been made by a former JLP Party activists in the context of their application in the USA. Robertson himself denied and called the allegations as baseless, they were worthy of no further comment. He was confident that an ordinary police investigation would clear his innocence, the JLP held on to him. Also a trial in Florida in the matter was dismissed in January 2011 by the U.S. court. On 20 May 2011 the U.S. government Robertson and his wife withdrew without giving reasons, the visas for travel to the U.S., but Robertson suspected a connection to the above accusations made against him.

Then he offered on 24 May 2011 to his resignation from ministerial office, the Prime Minister Bruce Golding accepted the same day. For a transitional period Golding took over the responsibility for the ministry in a cabinet reshuffle by the end of June 2011, the former Minister Clive Mullings again took over the Energy and Mines Ministry on July 1. Robertson retained his seat on the House of Representatives and the Office as Deputy JLP Chairman.
