James Singleton (musician)

James Singleton ( born October 8, 1955 in Wilmington, Delaware ) is an American musician ( bass), composer and music producer of modern jazz.

Life and work

Singleton has been working since 1977 in the music scene of New Orleans, including James Booker, Professor Longhair, Johnny Vidacovich, Aaron Neville, Joe Henderson, Milt Jackson, Eddie Harris, Clark Terry, Lightnin ' Hopkins, Gatemouth Brown, John Scofield and the Marsalis family; total he participated from 1981 to 2010 at 73 recording sessions in the early 1990s, he played in a trio of Tony Dagradi and Astral Project, whose album he produced elvado. In 1995 he founded the formation 3NOW4 with guitarist Dave Easley; 2005 James Singleton String Quartet. After Hurricane Katrina, he moved to Los Angeles to return to 2008 to New Orleans.
