James William Trimble

James William Trimble ( born February 3, 1894 in Osage, Carroll County, Arkansas; † March 10, 1972 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas ) was an American politician and represented as a Democrat to the state of Arkansas in the U.S. House of Representatives. His term lasted from 1945 until 1967.

Career

James William Trimble was born on 3 February 1894 in the small town of Osage, where he attended public school. He graduated in 1917 from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He was admitted as a solicitor in 1925 and then opened a practice in Berryville.

During World War II he served in the U.S. Army as a private and was assigned to the Adjutant General's Office in Little Rock. After the war he worked 1920-1928 as an official in Carroll County. Thereafter Trimble prosecutor of the fourth judicial district of Arkansas. This activity he held from 1930 to 1938. In the time after which he worked as a judge of the same court. He worked there until 1944.

After Trimble was elected as a Democrat to the 79th and the ten subsequent Congresses. His work, he practiced there between January 1945 and January 3, 1967 3. During his time in Congress, he was chairman of the Special Committee on Chamber Improvements ( 81st and 82nd Congress ). He lost the general election in 1966 against Republican John Paul Hammerschmidt of Harrison and was the first Democrat since Reconstruction, the defeated a Republican in a Congressional election. After his defeat he returned to Berryville.

James William Trimble died on March 10, 1972 in Eureka Springs. He was buried at the Berryville Memorial Park in Berryville.
