Jamie Dornan

Jamie Dornan ( born May 1, 1982 in Belfast, Northern Ireland) is an Irish- British actor, model and musician.

Life and career

Jamie Dornan was born in 1982 as the son of Belfast obstetrician Jim Dornan. His mother died when he was 16 years old, his father is diagnosed with leukemia in 2005. Dornan's great-great aunt is the Oscar-winning American actress Greer Garson. Through his aunt, who led an amateur theatrical club in Belfast, he came early with acting in touch. So Dornan was already at the age of 12 years in Chekhov's works on stage. He attended the Methodist College in his hometown. There he focused on the rugby sport and was, inter alia, the A-level in the subjects of English literature and art history.

After finishing school Dornan played in Belfast Harlequins Rugby Club. In 2001 he visited on the advice of his older sister an audition for the series of the British television station Channel Model Behavior 4, in which they looked for top models. Although he did not win the final contract for the TV reality series, but was taken from the model agency Select under contract. Then he broke off his studies at the University of Teesside and moved to London. The brunette, 1.83m wide Northern Irishman stood with success in an advertisement of, among others, Calvin Klein, Armani, Gap, Tommy Hilfiger, Hugo Boss and Dolce & Gabbana in front of the camera, where he alongside such famous models like Natalia Wodjanowa, Kate Moss or Gisele Bundchen was seen. Parallel to his career in the fashion industry Dornan founded in 1999 together with his former school friend David Alexander the folk band Sons of Jim, in which he acts as lead singer and songwriter and plays acoustic guitar. The band name was inspired by the two fathers Dornan and Alexander, both called by their first names Jim. In 2006, she released her debut single My Burning Sun.

In August 2003, Dornan met during a photo shoot for the British jeweler Asprey Keira Knightley know. As a Life Fellow of the British actress he became known to a wide audience. His character, however, died after the seventh episode of the first season. Nevertheless, he joined in 2012 and 2013 in the same role after two wins in the series. In October 2013 it was announced that Dornan is announced in the 2015 film adaptation of the novel Shades of Grey take on the role of Christian Grey. The choice fell on him after he successfully completed a joint casting with colleague Dakota Johnson.

Dornan lives in London. After his relationship with Keira Knightley the English tabloids in the past reported on Liaisons to Kate Moss, Sienna Miller and Mischa Barton, which he, however, largely denied. Since April 2013 he has been married to singer and actress Amelia Warner. Together they have a daughter who came in late November 2013 the world.
