Jamie Peck

Jamie Andrew Peck ( born July 9, 1962 in Nottingham, England ) is a British geographer. He is Professor of Geography and holder of the Canada Research Chair in Urban & Regional Political Economy at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

Life

Jamie Peck studied geography at the University of Manchester with a BA degree in 1983. Bonded to it University, he received his PhD in 1988 in Geography. During this time he worked as a Research Associate at the Centre for Urban & Regional Industrial Development from the University of Manchester. Between 1988 and 1989, spent some time as a National Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne. Peck was from 1989 to 2000 professor of geography at the University of Manchester. He joined in 2000 as Professor of Geography and Sociology at the University of Wisconsin- Madison. Since 2008 he teaches and conducts research as a professor of geography at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and holds the Canada Research Chair in Urban & Regional Political Economy. In parallel, research and he is honorary professor at the University of Nottingham (2004 -) and the University of Manchester (2007 -) and researches at the University of Illinois and the University of Wisconsin - Madison.

In addition, he was a guest lecturer at the following universities: University of Melbourne, Johns Hopkins University, University of Toronto, UBC, University of Wisconsin- Madison, University of the Witwatersrand, University of Oslo, University of Nottingham, University of Manchester, Queen's University Belfast, University of of Amsterdam, and National University of Singapore.

Work

Jamie Peck's work moves along the border of economic and urban geographical research. Here, Political Economy, Restruktierung, regulation theoretical approaches and governance are the focus.
