Jan Erik Vold

Jan Erik Vold ( born October 18, 1939 in Oslo) is a Norwegian poet, translator, literary promoters and musicians. Since 1977 he has lived mainly in Stockholm.

Work

Since its debut in 1965, Jan Erik Vold published over 20 books of poetry and numerous own books and essays on domestic and foreign colleagues. As a member of the so-called profile - generation he wore in the late sixties a significant contribution to the democratization of poetry term. Disgusted with pompous pathos and an idle metaphor machinery he developed a vested, casual Parlando the processed heterogeneous influences ( from Daoism to beat poetry ). Among other things, he was also with the Japanese haiku tradition. Volds poems are created on paper. His well-rehearsed with music greats such as Jan Garbarek, Chet Baker, Red Mitchell or Egil Kapstad CDs make him a pioneer of Scandinavian Jazz & Poetry.

In 2000, the University of Oslo awarded him an honorary doctorate title.
