Jan Fantl

January Fantl ( born June 11, 1954 in Prague ) is a German film producer.

Biography

January Fantl was born in 1954 as son of director Thomas Fantl in Czechoslovakia. After Thomas Fantl there was a ban on working, the family moved in 1957 to Germany, where in January Fantl grew up. After his graduation in 1975, he was hired as a freelance manager at Bavaria Film, two years later, he is assistant director. He worked at this time mainly on the side of Hajo Gies, whom he assisted in numerous films as well as crime scene episodes. This period ended with the first movie Schimanski tooth for a tooth 1984. He was also for films by Wolfgang Petersen ( table top exercise ), Franz Peter Wirth ( Wallenstein ) and Peter Adam committed ( the crime scene ). From 1985 to 1987 he was director of the television series Sesame Street and in the early evening. In parallel, worked from 1981 to 1988, he as a producer, writer and director in the advertising and film industry.

In 1991 he became Line Producer. In this capacity, he was responsible for the Icelandic film Tár úr steini, the Iceland 1996 filed as candidates for the Oscar for best foreign language film. The TV pilot The clown fell him his responsibilities as executive producer.

Since 1997, Jan Fantl has worked as a producer and entrepreneur, with he has specialized to bring Hollywood films to Europe, as the musical drama Beyond the Sea - Music was his life with Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth, John Goodman and Bob Hoskins. Although his film action takes place mostly in America, but was shot in the film studio Babelsberg and Berlin in Germany. Other films he co-produced, are The Musketeer and A Sound of Thunder.

Lives and works since 2008 in Prague and since 2011 in London.
