Jan Hackaert

January Hackaert ( born 1 February 1628 in Amsterdam, † after 1685, probably around 1700 in Amsterdam) was a Dutch painter and etcher.

Life

Hackaert had done in his youth trips to Germany and Switzerland and painted landscapes from these areas. After his return, he settled in The Hague. His paintings, some of which are in Amsterdam ( Rijksmuseum ), Munich ( Pinakothek ), Dresden and St. Petersburg ( Hermitage ) are, have been provided by Adriaen van de Velde, Johannes Lingelbach, inter alia, with decoration. Year of his death is unknown. As an artist, he takes a middle position between the northern and southern direction of Dutch landscape painting.
