Jan Koukal

January Koukal ( born July 29, 1951 in Brno ) is a Czech politician and diplomat.

After studying theoretical physics at the Charles University in Prague (1969-1974), the Doctor of Koukal worked until 1993 at the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, specializing in surface and solid- state physics.

January Koukal was a member of the Civic Democratic Party ( ODS). From 1993 to 1998 he was Mayor of Prague, and from 1996 to 1998 Member of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic. In 2006 he was training at the Foreign Ministry of Czech ambassador to Austria after a few months.

Koukal is married and has three children.
