Jan Říha

Jan Říha ( born November 11, 1915 in Pisek, † 15 December 1995 ) was a Czech football player.

In the club

January Říha played football since he was 15 for the SK Pisek. With 19 years of right- winger from Slavia Prague has been tested, but fell through. In 1937, he had already signed with Viktoria Pilsen, when suddenly Sparta Prague reported that the replacement for the migrated Ferdinand Faczinek was looking for. Říha proved most convincing and should hold up to end of his career in 1950 Sparta loyalty.

With Sparta Prague won Říha, who moved to the connecting position between the central striker and right winger in a 2 -3- 5 system later, five times the national championship, also four times the cup competition. For his club he scored 224 goals in 429 games, including 111 in the top division. He is a member of the club top scorer, the club kanonýrů ligových.

In the National Team

After only two Erstligaeinsätzen January Říha was appointed on September 19, 1937 in the Czechoslovak national team. When 3:8 against Hungary, he did not disappoint as one of the few, and scored a goal. Říha belonged to the tribe formation of Czechoslovakia during the World Cup 1938 in France. In the quarterfinal match against Brazil Říha was sent off, the match ended goalless. In replay Brazil was superior to the Czechoslovaks. His last of 25 missions, in which he scored nine goals, Říha had on 12 June 1948 in Prague, Czechoslovakia defeated France with 0:4.
