Jan Zrzavý

January Zrzavý ( born November 5, 1890 in Okrouhlice, Okres Havlíčkův Brod, Czech Republic, † 12 October 1977 in Prague) was a Czech painter, graphic artist and illustrator.

Life

Zrzavý was a leading artist of fine Czech avant-garde of the early 20th century, he studied at the Prague Academy of Arts and was a co-founder of the group " Sursum ", member of the Association of the creative artist " Manes ", " artist talk " and the "Association of the Czech artist and graphic Hollar ". In the 20s January Zrzavý made ​​numerous trips through Europe, including Italy, Belgium and France. The first stages of his artistic career were: " The Valley of sadness ": " Nokturno ", " Still Life with May flowers ", " suffering". These works characterize the beginning of the Czech Secession, they symbolize the same time the beginning of the Czech Expressionism in the early days of cubism. January Zrzavý was inspired by Bohumil Kubišta and J. Valacha, but especially by the Italian Renaissance, here mainly for their excellent artist, Raphael and Leonardo da Vinci.

After the First World War, his art has been formalized in the harmony of his pictures degenerated into typical abstract, lyrical and soft shapes, " melancholy ", " girlfriend ". In the second stage of the 20th century his work in January Zrzavý dedicated his eyes characteristic mainly of landscape painting: " Camaret ", " San Marco at night ", " San Marco in the day ", " Ostrava heaps ". In these works Zrzavý created his own painterly metamorphosis, almost a sense of the relationship of the forces of nature, harmony and tranquility.

His grave is located in Krucemburk, where he will be honored in a memorial hall.
