Janet Brown

Janet McLuckie Brown ( born December 14, 1923 in Rutherglen, Lanarkshire, Scotland, † 27 May 2011 Hove, East Sussex, England) was a British actress who gained a great reputation by their Margaret Thatcher impersonations.

Life

Janet Brown was born in Rutherglen, Lanarkshire and went to the local Rutherglen Academy.

Career

Brown's career began with the television series Picture Book of BBC Television in the 1950s.

One of her most notable performances had Brown in the James Bond film For Your Eyes Only as prime minister. Another Thatcher their imitations can be found on the Mike Oldfield album Amarok from the year 1990.

In 1986, she published her autobiography with Prime Mimicker.

Private life

Janet Brown was married to the actor Peter Butterworth from 1947 until his death in 1979. They had two children together, a son, the actor Tyler Butterworth and her daughter Emma died in 1996 at the age of 34 years. She had never married afterwards. Brown went to live in Hove, East Sussex, where she died in a nursing home at the age of 87 after a short illness.
