Janet Howell

Janet Denison Howell ( born May 7, 1944 in Washington, DC as Janet Denison ) is an American politician (Democratic Party). Since 1992 she has Senator in the Senate of Virginia, representing the 32th district there.

Life

Janet Howell in 1944 as the daughter of economist Edward F. Denison in Washington, DC born. She attended Oberlin College, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in 1966. She then continued her studies at the University of Pennsylvania and graduated in 1968 with a Master of Arts (MA ) from. Howell was a teacher at a school in public ownership and worked as a legislative assistant later.

In 1991 she was first elected to the Senate of Virginia. In the subsequent elections, they could defend their mandate in each case. As a senator she served on various committees, among other things, she was the first woman in the Senate Finance Committee. In addition, she was the first woman and the second non- lawyer in the Courts of Justice Committee.

Howell is married since 1966 and has two sons.
