Japan Football Association

The Japan Football Association (Japanese日本 サッカー 協会, Nihon Sakkā Kyōkai ) or short JFA is the Japanese Football Association, which is responsible for the organization of football competitions in Japan. In addition to the national team, the JFA is also responsible for the club competitions.

The association was founded in 1921 as Greater Japan Football Association (大 日本 蹴 球 协会Dai- Nippon Shūkyū Kyōkai, dt " Great Japanese Football Association " ) founded in 1929 and joined FIFA in. In 1945 the association was renamed the Japan Football Associtation.

As a symbol of the JFA uses the Yatagarasu, a mythical raven, the Emperor Jimmu is said to have led to today's Kumano Nachi Taisha.

Football is one of the most popular sports in Japan, and the national team could already qualify for some World Cup Soccer Championships.
