Japan Golf Tour

The Japan Golf Tour is one of the most important tournament series in the world of professional golf. Since 1999, responsible for the implementation of this series, which was founded in the same year JGTO (Japanese Golf Tour Organisation). The tour has the third highest prize level, according to the North American PGA TOUR and the European PGA European Tour.

Official events of this series are for the golf world ranking as well as tour members can qualify if successful for the majors. Most of the leading players of the Japan Golf Tour are inherently Japanese, but also professional golfers from many other countries are working there.

Since the early 1990s, however, the Japan Golf Tour could not keep up with the rapid increases in the prize money of the two leading tournament series step.

The JGTO also organized a two- strung ( second level ) tournament series, the Japan Challenge Tour, similar to the North American Nationwide Tour and the European Challenge Tour. It is organized since 1999.

The prize also includes the income in the majors and the World Golf Championships events.
