Japan Ice Hockey Federation

The Nihon Aisuhokkē Renmei (Japanese日本 アイス ホッケー 連盟, German Japanese Ice Hockey Federation, English Japan Ice Hockey Federation, in short: JIHF ) is the governing body of ice hockey in Japan and since January 26, 1930 a full member of the Ligue internationale de hockey sur glace - LIHG. After the Second World War, Japan was excluded and 1951 recorded at the Paris Congress of LIHG again

National

The Association currently operates both a men's and a women's national team and junior teams. At the 2008 IIHF World Championship Division I, Group B (men ) from 13 - 19 April, 2008 was held in Sapporo, Japan won hosts behind Hungary and Ukraine the bronze medal. The Japanese national team head coach Mark Mahon occupied after the 2008 World Championships ranked 22nd IIHF World Ranking. The ladies were at the same time on the ninth.

A total of 20,731 Japanese practice the sport of ice hockey under the leadership of the Association, of which 14,679 men, 3,200 women and 6,052 junior players. In addition, 861 belong to the referee association. The Japanese Association operates together with other East Asian regional organizations, the Asia League Ice Hockey.
