Jari Korpisalo

Jari Korpisalo ( born February 17, 1966 in Helsinki ) is a retired Finnish professional ice hockey player who was active during his career, including for the EV Landshut and Munich Barons in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

Career

Korpisalo began his career in 1985 in the Canadian Junior Football League Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Granby Bisons, before he returned after only one season in his Finnish homeland, where four seasons for Karhu -Kissat Helsinki and a SaPKo Savonlinna was active. In Helsinki, the striker was one of the best players of the team and point scored in 130 games 189 points scorer. Consequently, the leaders of the Finnish first division Ässät Pori were aware of the then 24 -year-old and transferred him in the summer of 1990 in the SM- liiga.

In Pori the links shooter was among the performers and audience favorites. After seven seasons and 364 completed league games he forced a move abroad and became the 1997/98 season made ​​by the EV Landshut under contract. In Landshut, the Finn was unable to match the time at Ässät Pori terms of points, as he scored in his first season in the DEL 17 points in 46 games. This point he was able to increase yield only limited and so his expiring contract was not renewed in the summer of 1999 in the following year. After a vigorous retraction of the EV Landshut from the DEL the Finn joined the newly founded DEL team Munich Barons.

With the Barons, he was able to win against the Cologne Sharks of the German Championship in the 1999/2000 season with a 3-1 final victory after games. This season he was able to achieve 24 points in 58 games and have a plus / minus stats by 13. He then went to three years in Germany back to Finland. There he took a contract offer from the Finnish clubs Ässät Pori, for which he was already active between 1990 and 1997. Korpisalo remained then to 2005 in Pori, and then ended his hockey career at the age of 39 years. A little later, his jersey number was blocked with the number 17 by the club and has since no longer awarded.

Internationally

Korpisalo was nominated in 1984 for the first time for the Finnish junior national team. Two years later, he took part with the juniors Finland at the 1986 World Cup in Canada, where he finished sixth with his team. It was not until seven years later he laced the skates again for his country, when he took part with the A- team of the Finns at the 1993 World Championships.
