Jarle Halsnes

Jarle Halsnes ( born May 4, 1957 in Sauda ) is a retired Norwegian alpine skier. He specializes in the disciplines of giant slalom and slalom.

Biography

Halsnes first drew attention to himself in 1978 when he won the Norwegian championship in the giant slalom. In the 1978/79 season of the European Cup, he decided the overall standings for himself and took second place in the giant slalom standings. The first points in a World Cup race he won December 8, 1979 as the seventh of the giant slalom in Val d'Isere. This winter was followed by three more top-10 results, including a third place finish in the giant slalom at Waterville Valley on February 26. At the Olympic Winter Games in 1980, he was 11th in the giant slalom and 16th in slalom.

Successfully ran for Halsnes the World Cup season 1980 / 81st In six giant slalom and slalom races he ran in the top ten. The slalom in St. Anton am Arlberg on 1 February 1980, he finished in third place, which he achieved his second podium finish. In the World Cup season 1981/82 Halsnes could not quite reach that level. A sixth place was his best result, otherwise he binned eight times between 10th and 14th at the World Cup 1982 he went twice in 11th place after winning the second Norwegian giant slalom champion title Halsnes retired from professional racing.
