Jarmil Burghauser

Jarmil Burghauser, actually Jarmil Michael Mokrý, ( born October 21, 1921 in Pisek, Czechoslovakia, † February 19, 1997 in Prague) (sometimes used pseudonym: Michal Hájku ) was a Czech composer, conductor and musicologist.

His work has long been oriented to the late Romantic musical language and includes operas, oratorios and cantatas, chamber music and vocal compositions. Early sixties he sat reinforced with twelve-tone and serial music apart and developed in the orchestral work seven reliefs and the opera Most ( The Bridge ), a personal style that he himself described as harmonic serialism.

Burghauser published the thematic catalog of the works of Antonín Dvořák and was also involved in much of the critical edition of the works of Leoš Janáček.
