Jaroslav Hilbert

Jaroslav Hilbert ( * 1871 in Laun, † 1936 in Prague) was Czech playwright, prose writer, theater critic, journalist and memoirist.

After graduation in 1889, he studied mechanical engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague. He made ​​several trips abroad to countries such as France, Scandinavia, Italy, Siberia, Japan and the United States. He is the younger brother of the architect Kamil Hilbert.

Works

He is considered the founder of Czech psychological drama. Under the influence of Henrik Ibsen he worked on a modern, dramatic expression.
