Jaroslav Lev of Rožmitál

Jaroslav Lev of Rosental and Blatna ( Czech Jaroslav Lev z Rožmitála az Blatné ) (* 1425, † 1480), was a Bohemian nobleman from the House of Lev of Rosental.

Life

In addition to the family castle in Rosental he also held Blatna. In the years 1465-1467 he undertook on behalf of his brother, the Bohemian King George of Podiebrad, a diplomatic trip through Europe. He led this delegation of 40 Catholic nobles and knights with 52 horses. He was not just a name in tournaments, but tried the good reputation of Bohemia, damaged by the Hussite wars, restore and move the country and the regent in a good light. The company traveled to Germany, Belgium, England, France, Spain, Portugal and stayed to the end in Venice. After the visit of the Emperor Frederick in Styria, she returned to Bohemia. The trip was successful. After his return Lev was appointed by Rosental for his services to the highest Hofmeister Kingdom of Bohemia, 1467-1469 also captain of the County of Pisek.

The delegation was also accompanied by the patrician Gabriel Tetzl of Grafenberg, who described the trip later in his chronicle. Memoirs also left his companion, the knight Václav Šašek z Bířkova.

Although Catholic, Lev gave to the king. He was buried in plates. His wife was of the race of Bezdružický Kolowrat. His name was presented after his death the title of Rosental.
