Jaroslav Navrátil

Jaroslav Navratil ( born July 24, 1957 in Přerov, then Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech tennis player.

Life

Navratil celebrated his first major success on the ATP World Tour, when he reached the second round in Kitzbühel in 1981, while Juan Aguilera defeated. In the following years, he could not repeat the individual success, in 1984 he reached the quarter- finals at the Swedish Open again a noteworthy result. In the same year was again the first knockout round of Kitzbühel, in the quarterfinals of Toulouse. His biggest success was the participation in the semifinals of Prague in 1987, when he defeated in the first round Miloslav Mečíř and finally Tomáš Šmíd was inferior.

Successful Navratil was in doubles. Throughout his career, he was two titles on the ATP World Tour and two other Challenger on the ATP Tour win. Its highest listing in the tennis world ranking he reached in 1987 with position 64 and position 31 in the single in a double.

His best individual result at a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the second round at the U.S. Open in 1987, where he was defeated after a victory over Mike DePalmer the Swiss Jakob Hlasek. In the doubles competition, he reached in the same year on the side of Stanislav Birner the quarterfinals of the French Open.

Navratil was in 1983 appointed once in the Czechoslovak Davis Cup team. In the match against Paraguay he came in last individual to use, as the victory of the Czechoslovaks had already been decided. His game against Victor Caballero he clearly won in straight sets. After the end of his active career, he was captain of the Czech Davis Cup team.
