Jaroslav Rudiš

Jaroslav Rudiš ( born June 8, 1972 in Turnov ) is a Czech writer, playwright and screenwriter, who also writes in German.

Life

Rudiš first studied in Liberec, Zurich and Prague German, history and journalism before he came by a journalist scholarship to Berlin. In Berlin, his first novel was The Sky under Berlin ( Nebe pod Berlínem, 2002). For this book Rudiš received the Jiří Orten Prize in 2002.

He worked a long time as a cultural editor for the daily newspaper Pravo and lives since 2006 as a freelance writer and journalist based in Prague.

In September 2006, published in Prague publishing house LABYRINT his second novel Grand Hotel; parallel came the filming of the substance in which Rudiš even participated in a supporting role, in Czech theaters and was also shown at the Berlinale. The German translation of Grand Hotel came in early December 2008 in the bookstores. 2007 also appeared in the Czech Republic, his third novel entitled Potichu ( The Silence), which was positively received by the Czech criticism.

The author works in the dramatic area; together with Petr Pýcha he has written several plays, among other things, at theaters in Prague and Ústí nad Labem were seen. Lately Rudiš also writes on German; together with the Leipzig author Martin Becker, he has written the radio play Lost in Praha, which on 1 April 2008 at the West German Radio had its first broadcast. In addition, both authors wrote on a libretto for an opera about the year 1968, which was premiered in 2008 also in Prague and Berlin.

In addition to his literary activities Rudiš experienced by the cartoon character Alois Nebel, which he designed in collaboration with the Czech rock singer and artist Jaromír Švejdík, much popularity. In addition to the weekly comic strip is now also a complete comic strip in English. A German translation was made in 2012. Together with Jaromír Švejdík and his publisher Joachim Dvořák Rudiš has the band The Bombers founded in the winter of 2007, their first CD in the Czech Republic has been released.

The end of 2007 Rudiš was chosen, together with representatives from politics and society in the series of thirty most important personalities of the Czech Republic.
