Jaroslav Å karvada

Jaroslav Skarvada ( born 14 September 1924 in Prague Royal Vinohrady, † June 14, 2010 in Prague) was Auxiliary Bishop of Prague.

Life

1945 Jaroslav Skarvada studied at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome and the Czech Pontifical Collegium Nepomucenum in Rome. On March 12, 1949, he received by the Auxiliary Bishop of Rome and later Cardinal Luigi Traglia, the ordination. Due to the political situation in Czechoslovakia he was unable to return home and initially taught dogmatic theology at the seminary in Chieti, Italy. In 1965 he became secretary to Cardinal Josef Beran, who had been reported as Archbishop of Prague from Czechoslovakia. From 1968 he was responsible for the pastoral care of the Czechs abroad. From 1970 to 1991 he was an employee in the Vatican Secretariat of State.

On December 18, 1982, Pope John Paul II appointed titular bishop of Litomyšl and consecrated him personally on January 6, 1983, Bishop for Pastoral Care of the Czech emigrants. Co-consecrators were the Curia archbishop and later Cardinal Eduardo Martínez Somalo, as well as the secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples and later Cardinal, Duraisamy Simon Lourdusamy.

On August 28, 1991, he was appointed by Pope John Paul II appointed auxiliary bishop in Prague. From November 1991 to February 2001 he was Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Prague. From January 1993 to September 2002 he was the dean before the Metropolitan Chapter at St. Vitus Cathedral in Prague. Since 25 September 2002, he was retired. For his services Jaroslav Skarvada was in 2003 with the Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk Order - III. Class excellent.
