Jaru

Jaru is a city of about 56,000 inhabitants in north-western Brazilian state of Rondônia.

The village lies in the valley of the Rio Jaru, a tributary of the Ji Parana, and was built in 1912 from a telegraph station of the strategic telegraph line between Mato Grosso and Amazonas. A first exploration of the valley, which belonged to the tribal territory of the indigenous people of Jaru, was held by Kautschukernter in the 19th century. 1915 River area and was named by the Commission to develop Rondônias after this tribe of the Jaru.
